American Legal and the League of Arizona Cities and Towns form a joint ordinance codification program.

American Legal has been chosen by the League of Arizona Cities and Towns to operate the League's Ordinance Codification and Electronic Publishing Program. American Legal has published Codes of Ordinances for nearly 70 years. It acts as the Codification or Folio Consultant to16 state municipal leagues. With 15 attorneys on staff, it has the best client-to-attorney ratio in the business. And, American Legal publishes the Model Ordinance Service for the International Municipal Lawyers Association. Since 1937, the League of Arizona Cities and Towns has been providing services to the 90 municipalities in the state of Arizona. With the primary mission of protecting home rule and local determination, the League offers numerous programs and resources to assist municipal staff in training and professional development.

The Codification Program includes services for organizing ordinances into titles and chapters by subject matter, creating an index and reference tables, formatting the code pages into a single or dual column print style, and printing complete copies of the entire code book with binders and divider tabs. It also includes a legal review and written report by one of American Legal's staff attorneys. The review will uncover inconsistencies between sections within the code and inconsistencies with the code sections and state statutes. There is also the option to receive the new code on CD and have it posted on the Internet.

If you already have a code but it was first published many years ago, we can recodify it for you. Or, if you have a code book and it is not ready for a complete recodification yet, have us update it instead with our Supplement Service. We can update your code book even if we did not originally publish it. We will match the current format and typestyle. Our supplement services usually include delivery of new pages within 45 days or less.
